New Saturday Yoga Class @ Great Western Power Co.

Great news for all you Yoga fans that just so happen to be members of
Great Western Power Co...looks like we have a brand new Saturday Yoga class that started this weekend and will be held every Saturday going forward. The class is taught by Sean Feit, who has previously been subbing in for Raven's evening class, but now is going to have a class of his very own.
Here is a bit more about his class:
Sean Feit who has previously subbed for Raven’s evening class will be coming to GWPC to teach, in his words, “an all-levels Vinyasa yoga class with an emphasis on breath, concentration and mindfulness. We cultivate deep presence in movement and awaken prana (full, flowing energy) throughout the body with a mix of strength and stretch, focusing on physical alignment, continuity of attention, and energetic clarity.”
Sean has practiced meditation in the Rinzai Zen and Theravadan Buddhist traditions since 1993, and yoga since 1995, studying with teachers in the Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Yin and Bihar lineages. His yoga classes emphasize mindfulness and inner clarity, focusing on breath, alignment & devotion.
Drop into
Great Western Power Co. to get more information and sign yourself up. This is a class all you yoga fans will not want to miss out on!

"Fit Fridays Happy Hour" Starts in April!

Here's a quick heads up that one of our popular classes at
Berkeley Ironworks has changed in both name, and style. That's right, starting in April, every Friday at 5:00 pm will be our new "Fit Fridays Happy Hour" class that will be a blend of cardio, strength and stretching.
Check out our flyer for the new information, but bottom line, if you're looking for a great way to get
happy on endorphins while doing strength training that ranges from lunches to pull-ups, cardio drills that bring in kickboxing to plyometrics, and great ab and stretching activities, this is the class for you. It's led by Cathyn Fan, who started out with a 200-hour YogaFit certification and then went on to add Pilates, Abs, Kickboxing and personal training to her resume. If you want functional strength, this is your new best friend. The best news, they even do exercises that will improve your climbing skills.
We hope to see you there!

While this clinic is still a ways away, we wanted to give you all a heads up about a new Yoga clinic coming to Great Western Power Co. in March. The Acro Yoga Clinic does not require a partner but will help show you the benefits and experiences behind partner yoga.
The event will take place
March 7th from 2-4:30pm at Great Western Power Co. and will be $30 for all of you members out there, and only $35 if you're not currently a member. The class is going to be taught by Tyler Blanks, a 4 year veteran of AcroYoga and Donna Carroll, an AcroYoga teacher that also teaches Power Flow, Kundalini and Pre-Natal Yoga.
Here's a bit more about the event:
"Through the art Partner Yoga and the expansion of Flight, we will explore the connection between one's self and one's partner, stretching, breathing, and supporting in a variety of fun, unique poses. Experience your body in ways that you never thought you could. This is your chance to Fly, to Base, to support your partner with courage; building trust, removing obstacles, creating friendship, and enjoying yourself in community. Bring a friend, or come alone and we will team you up with a partner. No experience necessary. Arrive ready for anything and leave feeling totally uplifted."
So, head over and register at Great Western Power Co. We'll see you there.

New Name, Same Amazing Class @ Berkeley Ironworks

Only one more day until Friday! We've made it this far my friends, we're almost to the much deserved weekend! That said, I just wanted to offer up a quick reminder to all of you that one of the best, and most popular classes at Berkeley Ironworks has undergone a bit of a makeover when it comes to its name.
What used to be called "Sports Conditioning" is now renamed, much more appropriately I might add, "Full Body." It's the same great class, just a new name. For all of you veterans to it, no worries, for all of you that have yet to join and get into the groove, now is the time. Just to prove to you how much you
need to be a part of this great class, here's some of what you can expect:
The Full Body class with John Downey (formerly the Sports Conditioning Class) Tuesdays @ Noon and Thursdays @ 1PMAll human movement must traverse the core. Having a strong set of abdominal and lower back muscles makes every movement stronger, more precise, more graceful and much, much safer. Teaching the brain and nervous system to coordinate all of our actions through a strong, stable core is the essence of fitness. Training our body to work as a single unit, using whatever combination of muscles and extremities and in whatever rotating, lifting, turning movement we find ourselves in, is the ultimate state of physical strength and power. To say nothing of staying injury free!
This is the philosophy that guides the design and development of each and every Full Body class given at Berkeley Ironworks.
