  MetalMark Grand Opening
MetalMark, Touchstone's newest gym in Fresno, had a grand opening party last week. The last of the Touchstone Rope Series comps was held at the new gym and 150 people came out to check the new climbing gym. There was pizza, beer, and a ton of fun. Bay area climbers drove out to check out the new indoor crag and the local climbers stopped by to check out the forty foot walls and great bouldering.

The crew of Touchstone route setters headed out to Fresno and set some great routes and boulder problems for the comp. All the holds are new and the climbing is phenomenal out there.

The gym has a couple of great cracks for those looking to train for Yosemite but don't have the time for the drive. Lyn Verinsky is getting after it in the wide part of the crack. The walls in the gym are a little coarse still so stop by the front desk and pick up some tape to make sure you don't thrash your hands.

Metal Mark also has a number of great classes including a Zumba class, yoga classes, and more. The studio is a great open place to work out and enjoy group exercise programs.

For the rest of July, MetalMark has 0 initiation fee. Stop by Metal Mark, get involved in the Fresno climbing scene, and enjoy the new gym!

  New Classes at GWPC
This May Great Western Power Company will be adding several new classes to the already stacked yoga and program studio upstairs. Stop by for Yoga with Craig and Prachi, check out the Latin grooves of the Zumba class with Diana, or work your core to the utter end with Avram.

A strong core is great for climbing. Solid abdominal muscles help make long crack reaches easier, they keep your hips into the wall when you sport climb, and they keep your feet from cutting when bouldering on steep rock. Core classes with Avram are Tuesday 5-6pm and Thursdays 6-7pm.

Getting stretched out helps with everyday activity from running to climbing to biking. Plus it feels great! Yoga classes with Craig are Mondays and Fridays during lunch from 12-1pm and then Wednesday mornings with Prachi from 9-10:30.

Zumba is a fun way to exercise, have fun, and get into excellent shape. The Latin-inspired dance-fitness program blends red-hot international music and fast paced dancing. Zumba classes with Diana will be on Wednesdays during lunch from 12-1pm.

Stop by Great Western Power Company and check out the great new classes!

Diablo Fright Night- Learn the Thriller Dance
On Friday, October 29th from 6pm to 10pm, Diablo Rock Gym will be having a Fright Night to celebrate Halloween. It will be an awesome time! Our newest Zumba instructor, Cynthia Mallory, will be leading a Thriller Dance after her Zumba class at 6pm and then we'll have a Thriller Dance Off at 9pm.

If learning the Thriller Dance isn't enough, there will be other cool events. Members should come dressed up in full costume so they can win the "best costume contest." The first 13 kids will have a pumpkin to decorate at the gym. The staff will be having a pumpkin decorating contest with members voting for their favorite. The pumpkins will be displayed next Monday. The gym is decorated and the staff is excited!

Check out this Thai Prison inmates doing the Thriller Dance! Chilling!
