Guide Tennies at Ironworks
Getting to the crag can be a chore. Hiking down the North Dome Gully, descending the East Ledges, or even trying to stumble out of the boulders after a long day of pebble crushing can be a laborious task. It's important to treat your feet well as they care you to and from your next rad rock climb. One of the best things you can do for your feet is get some solid approach shoes. Stop stubbing your toes in flip flops, and don't be burdened with enormous boots.
To help in your approach shoe needs, Berkeley Ironworks just received a shipment of the 5.10 Guide Tennies. These shoes combine hiking boots and rock climbing shoes into one solid approach shoe. These approach shoe acts as an ideal piece of footwear for scrambling around the boulders in Yosemite, hiking up the talus field to the cliff, and hopping around the climbing crags. The upper is a durable, breathable cotton canvas designed to take a beating. Inside is a cushy corduroy ankle facing. The outsoles are high-friction Stealth® Dotty C4™ tread. Shoe Demos Coming to Touchstone
Fall is a great time of year to shop for new shoes. As the temps cool down and conditions get better outside, you'll want the best shoe that you can get. To help with your decision, Touchstone is hosting a number of different climbing shoe companies at their gyms. La Sportiva, Five Ten and Evolv will all be bringing their best shoes for you to try on and climb in.
FiveTen
Hornets
There is no better shoe for high-end sport climbing, bouldering or competition climbing. The Hornet is built on a new state-of-the-art low volume last, with a downturned toe and an asymmetrical lacing system that allows for a perfect, custom fit. The upper is synthetic Cowdura™ with a 3-D Polytechnic™ coating that increases durability and abrasion resistance without adding weight. The Mystique™ outsole offers unparalleled grip, precision and durability.

Great Holiday Gift- New Climbing Shoes
This holiday season, Touchstone will be hosting a series of rock shoe demos at each of their gyms. La Sportiva, Five Ten, and Evolve shoes will be presenting a number of different shoes. A representative of the shoe company will help you find your size and the ideal shoe. Petzl and 5.10 Demos
Petzl, one of the largest climbing companies in the world, along with 5.10, the climbing shoe company with the stickiest rubber, will be demoing their products this coming week at Ironworks, Great Western Power Company, and Mission Cliffs.
Petzl will be demoing the Sama/Adjama/Selena/Luna/Hirundos harnesses as well as the Meteor/Altios/Elios/Elia helmets.
5.10 will be demoing the Team 5.10, dragon, Jet 7, rogue, moccasym, anasazi velcros, anasazi lace-up, newton, and the grandstone.

Limited Edition Five Ten Shoe At Ironworks
The Five Ten Team LE (Limited Edition) will be making a brief appearance at Berkeley Ironworks this month. Similar to the popular V10, this radical down turned shoe with a velcro closure, was inspired by the Jet7 Dragon and 5x shoes. Only 510 pairs of the Team LE were produced and the shoe will be not available again until spring of 2010.
Touchstone retail buyer, Patti Phillips, was able to get her hands on a size run of the great shoes from Five Ten and Berkeley Ironworks will be stocking the model in mid August.
Kevin Jorgenson, a Santa Rosa climber and high ball hardman, gives a great testimonial over at his blog.
Here's a video of Dave Graham doing the first ascent of Big Worm, a V13/14 at Mt. Evans Colorado in a pair of the Team LEs.
