Guidebook App The evolution of the climbing guidebook is upon us. Wolverine Publishing, the company that has brought to you the brilliant Yosemite and Bishop guides has upped the ante. Coming out in May for all you Iphone geeks will be the interactive guide app to Red River Gorge in Kentucky. The app isn’t just an e-book but a fully interactive program that lets you search, filter and log your tick list. There are photos, maps and topos that will make find your way even easier, also it can use the GPS capabilities of the Iphone. There is a Lite version out now to tease you but expect more guides for other areas to be the future. Here is the link to the web page

  New Tuolumne Guidebook For those that can't get enough of the High-Sierra Heavens, Supertopo publishing just released an updated edition of the Tuolumne Guidebook. Written by Marin Native Chris McNamara and Berkeley local Steve Roper, the book acts as an informative and great guide to 250 routes on the beautiful granite domes. Complete with rack beta, and guides to a wide range of climbs predominately in the 5.6 to 10a range, the book is a valuable resource for all aspiring Yosemite trad masters. The book is available at the Touchstone gyms.

  Tuolumne Bouldering Located at 8000 feet, Toulumne Meadows features high Sierra granite and cool temperatures in the summer time. While most climbers spend their trips on the many rounded domes and classic peaks, a recent group of dedicated boulderers have been able to pluck away at some of the classic knob gems, following in the footsteps of the late John Bachar, the resident knob master Ron Kauk, and countless other high-Sierra hardmen.

Beyond the Knob Boulders, located on the side of Highway 120, are the Gunks, the Kitty Dome Boulders, the Ridge Boulders, and a slew of other clusters. The bouldering areas are often separated by short approaches through beautiful pines and meadows. With a high concentration of moderate and easy boulder problems, the meadows provides a great escape for Bay Area climbers.

The Tuolumne Meadows campground, one of the largest campsites in the country, offers great camping close to the climbing. To get there, drive 4 hours 30 mins east on the 120 from San Francisco. It's a long drive but well worth being in one of the country's most beautiful climbing destinations.
